FAQs
Dust allergies are not caused by dust! Dust allergies are triggered by microscopic dust mites that feed on human skin. Proteins in dust mite droppings (i.e., Der p 1 and Der p 2) are the most common dust allergens. Each dust mite can produce 200X its weight in waste. They thrive in warm and human environments, such as in bedding, mattresses, carpets, and upholstered furniture.
Dust mites reproduce extremely rapidly. Washing bedding in cold water (<60C/140F) fails to kill dust mites, weekly vacuuming reduces dust mites (~25-50%), but leaves behind those trapped deep in fibers. Importantly, dry dusting or non-HEPA vacuums will stir allergens into the air, which can worsen symptoms temporarily. Cleaning alone can't eliminate dust mites or their allergens altogether.
Pacagen’s Dust Allergen Neutralizing Spray combats dust mite allergens in an innovative way by using our alpaca-inspired EnviroBlock technology. EnviroBlock resembles small fragments of antibodies, which are an important part of all immune systems. These neutralizing proteins have highly specific receptors that bind to specific allergens. For dust allergies, the major allergens are Der p 1 and Der p 2. We engineered EnviroBlock to eliminate Der p 1 and Der p 2. By simultaneously disguising them from your immune system and eliminating Der p 1 activity, your immune system does not detect a threshold level of active dust allergen, preventing your allergies from being triggered.
The Dust Allergen Neutralizing Powder works best when it is first dissolved and mixed well into our specially-formulated stabilizing solution. One packet of the Dust Allergen Neutralizing Powder contains enough protein to be dissolved in 275 ml (9.3 fluid ounces) of liquid. We recommend using our Stabilizing Solution, as it is specifically formulated to improve the shelf life of EnviroBlock. Simply mix the powder until it is fully dissolved in the solution of your choice, and then pour it into a spray bottle. Spray around areas dust accumulates every 2-3 days. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions! Additionally, here is a full ingredient list of the Dust Allergen Neutralizing Powder: EnviroBlock Alpha, Sodium Chloride, Glycine, Leucine, Morning Glory Scent, Natural English Lavender Scent, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Silica
EnviroBlock, being a protein, is by nature subject to degradation when dissolved in tap water, as minerals and impurities can disturb its structure. The Stabilizing Solution is formulated to preserve EnviroBlock's structure as long as possible without hampering its neutralizing properties.
Definitely! Each ingredient was hand-picked to be safe for humans, and for pets too! While your pets also contribute to dust allergens, it's best to avoid spraying them directly as they usually don't like getting wet. Additionally, EnviroBlock is always manufactured to food-grade standards.
Spraying frequency depends on many factors, including how much dust is in your home, whether or not you have a pet, the severity of your allergies, and how sensitized your immune system is. We recommend starting by spraying once every 2-3 days, then adjusting the frequency based on whether your symptoms persist.
Depending on the concentration of dust allergens in your living space, improvements should be noticeable within hours, though some customers have reported seeing results up to 3 days after the initial application. It's best to use our products regularly to prevent the accumulation of active allergens.
The spray doesn't expire, but EnviroBlock loses effectiveness over time. When dissolved in our Stabilizing Solution, it remains stable for up to 2 months. In standard distilled water, they remain stable for up to only 1 month. We do not recommend dissolving any of the Dust Allergen Neutralizing Powder in tap water, as the minerals in tap water can disrupt EnviroBlock's protein structure.
We take pride in the fact that our sprays are designed with environmental consciousness in mind. Where possible, we use biological ingredients that have no long-term environmental impact.
