Where it all began.

We never planned to start Pacagen. We were two scientists and very much in love. That is, until unexpected allergies almost tore our family apart.


I'm Evan Zhao, the founder of Pacagen. When we adopted Miaomiao, our adorable british shorthair, I had no idea that my wife, Dr. Siyang Han, would develop severe allergies. Day after day, she was overwhelmed by insanely itchy eyes, a runny nose, and fits of uncontrollable sneezing.


It was so bad that at one point, we even thought about giving Miaomiao up for adoption. It nearly broke us.

We Tried Everything!

HEPA filters, air purifiers, medications - you name it. But nothing worked. My wife was miserable and my cat was sad.

I refused to believe there was no solution.

When Siyang and I were in our PhDs at Princeton, we worked on an amazing protein technology that was exceptional at targeting other proteins, like cat allergens.

So I thought, what if instead of treating allergy symptoms, with pills or shots, we tackled the source of allergies, the allergens themselves instead? What if we could break the allergens before they had a chance to trigger a reaction?

This idea became the foundation of Pacagen.
