Hi, I'm Miao Miao!
I’m a 4 year old British Shorthair. I like to eat and nap.
Sometimes I like to run, but only when I’m scared. When my parents Evan and Siyang got me, I was so, so happy. I finally had parents and a home!
But soon, something weird happened
It wasn’t all fun and laughs for long. For some reason, mum started sneezing every time she was around me. Her eyes would get all puffy and itchy.
After a while, I started running away from mum. I felt bad that she felt so awful around me... was I the problem?
Slowly, I saw mum and dad’s frustrations grow. It became a reoccurring argument they’d have - and that made me sad.
Mum was so allergic to me. Dad explained to mum that her allergies were caused by a protein in my saliva called Fel d 1.
Fel d - what?
I love to groom myself. I can’t help it. I spend probably 1/4 of my day doing it. Apparently, according to dad, whenever I groom, I spread an allergen called Fel d 1 around. It’s in my saliva, it gets onto dander, it goes pretty much everywhere.
I'm just TOO cute to handle
Getting rid of me was never an option. Maybe the thought crossed mum and dad’s minds, but I knew they loved me too much. And plus, just look at me :) And so began the long journey to find a solution. Mum tried a lot of things.
Pills
Mum tried allergy pills, which kinda helped, but she
didn’t want take drugs all the time.
Shots.
Dad suggested allergy shots. Mum said absolutely not.
Cleaning
Mum and dad don’t like to clean.
Keeping me in certain areas
I like my space, idk why they kept trying to move me
around.
Nothing was working
But dad was convinced that a better solution had to be out there. He said that if he couldn’t find it, he was going to make it. He said he has a Ph..D or something.
Dad did something with alpacas and proteins... it went way over my head.
He made it into this bottle that goes psst psst. He goes psst psst and then all of a sudden, mom started feeling better!!
I was so happy to snuggle up to mum again without her feeling so miserable! Dad is nice to hang out with, but mum gives better ear massages :)
So he invented a solution just for me - and you can use it too!
I was surprised to hear from my friends that this whole situation is really common! Why are our parent so allergic to us? :( We may never know, but I’m glad there’s finally a solution out there that can help!
