As a veterinary technician, I was skeptical of this product. There was no evidence of its efficacy outside of the websites claims or social media influencers. I have used Purina Liveclear for years as my husband is allergic to our four cats and it has plenty of studies and trials to back its research, but with wanting to switch my cats to a wet diet (Purina Liveclear is currently only formulated in a dry food diet and is recommended to be fed exclusively. A pH balanced shampoo is available and is recommended to be used with the diet) I needed a solution outside of Zyrtec. After much contemplating I purchased my first two bottles of the chicken food topper. It came in a glass bottle with no tamper seal, just plastic wrap on the lid. A decent amount of the product was spilled in the box, which with as expensive as this product is I was not enthused. Second, it is very powdery. Even the smallest amount of movement or sprinkling over food makes it turn into a dust cloud. It was a little challenging to verify that the correct amount is making it over the food and being ingested, but after 8 weeks of use my husband still has no allergy symptoms (We switched directly from Liveclear to Pacagen with no lapse, so we assumed if it didn’t work he would go back to coughing, sneezing, and getting an upper respiratory infection again). My cats didn’t seem to notice the topper when supplemented over their food, they consume their meals with no hesitation as usual. I did purchase the new formula in Salmon flavor for when I run out of the original chicken topper, so hopefully the packaging will be an improvement, maybe even the texture. When it comes to cost, I think it’s very expensive. To feed four cats Purina Liveclear Chicken or Salmon and Rice in a 16 pound bag it is $76 for 56 days worth of food. To supplement four cats with Pacagen, if you are following the directions of 1/8 teaspoon twice daily, it is $192 without a subscription or about $136 with a subscription for 30 days. Not including the cost of the diet you choose to feed. My husband and I personally experimented and found that we can comfortably feed the cats less of the supplement daily, instead of 1/8 daily we are able to give 1/32 teaspoon per cat twice daily. Any less and symptoms develop. If cost is a concern, and your cat does fine with a dry option, I think Purina is a better choice, but if your cat needs a special diet or you are currently feeding raw, canned, freeze dried etc. and can afford the cost, the topper in my opinion works well.

I was skeptical of the powder at first, wondering if there would be palatability issues with my picky cats. But surprisingly, they all eat this and it has really helped my allergies tremendously. In combination with the spray, my symptoms really have subsided so much. Which of course means extra cuddle time for the fur babies.

My daughter has mild-medium cat allergies. About 6 weeks ago, we all fell hard for a kitty and decided to adopt her. We've been using this for about a month along with other measures (vacuuming more, use of an air purifier in my daughter's bedroom) and we've seen improvements! She no longer sneezes as much and she can pet and hug our kitty, with mild symptoms showing only after a fair amount of time being right up next to each other. I'm reordering now and will be trying the room spray as well...can't hurt!

I had pretty bad allergies when i first got my baby. After doing some research, I found this powder. What I love about it is that you can use it on the food they love & I really believe it works. Using this product, along with doing other things to reduce my cat allergy, I am not breathing free & clear without meds.
