Nervous to be a cat parent?
We get it. Becoming a pet parent is not just cuddles and joy - it also comes with questions and uncertainty.

New pet parents are as nervous as their pets
Adopting a new pet is exciting, but understandably nerve-wracking. The fear usually comes from a place of love. Don't worry, let's get prepared together!

Your complete journey to finding your perfect feline companion
Make Sure You're Ready
Cats are wonderful companions, but they need love, attention, and care every day. Make sure your lifestyle allows time and space for a furry friend. Think about your home and preferences— do you want a playful kitten, a cuddly lap cat, or an independent spirit?
Consider taking home two! Cats require exercise, mental stimulation, and social interaction. Two cats can provide this for each other. Plus they'll provide more benefits to you. Cats' purring has been shown to soothe humans as well as themselves—and they have an uncanny ability to just make you smile.
Prepare for the Unexpected
Step 1 is the most important. Once you feel good about it, you need to take a second to prepare for the unexpected. Sometimes, unexpected allergies may show up, forcing people to make the heartbreaking choice to give their pet up.
Visit a friend who has cat or a shelter. You'll pretty much immediately know if you are allergic to cats and the severity of your allergies. Being allergic doesn't mean you have to give up on your dream of having a cat. There are several solutions here beyond daily antihistamines, frequent cleaning, and annoying allergy shots. This is where we specialize. Our products were developed to directly and specifically fight cat allergens!
Time for a Visit
Once you're ready to visit a shelter/breeder/adoption clinic, take your time meeting cats and be sure to ask about their personalities. Learn about their health history, behavior, and any special needs they may have. The more you know, the better you can care for them.
We know it's hard not to adopt the first cat you fall in love with, but take your time to play with the cats and understand their needs.
Once you're ready, understand what's included (like vaccinations or microchipping), and go over any forms or fees with the rescue staff.
Bringing Them to Their New Home
A visit to the vet helps start your cat off healthy and gives you peace of mind. Oftentimes, this is included in the initial adoption package! Please be sure to check.
Stock up on litter, scratching posts, toys, a carrier, and healthy cat food— everything your new friend will need to settle in comfortably. Bonding takes time. With kindness and a little patience, your cat will grow to trust you—and that's when the magic happens.
Cats may hide at first—that's okay! Let them explore and come to you when they feel safe.
